Rolf Waeber was born (1955) and educated in Switzerland. His intensive computer studies landed him in the technological field. Since 1973 he has worked as a mainframe computer analyst and programmer. He speaks fluent German, Spanish, and English and understands French and Italian. In 1994 he left Switzerland and lived for five years in Ecuador, South America, where he worked temporarily as a translator and tourist guide. He went on many tours in the highlands where he had a close encounter with the Inca culture. It was one of countless, unforgettable experiences. Due to scorching heat all climbing had to be done at night, walking and “resting” in the daytime. Sometimes he would walk non-stop over twenty two hours, covering up to one hundred kilometers.
