A lack of hobbies, a writing career, and marriage to a Chinese lady led me to try writing books. I had a number of hobbies when I was younger, but my extracurricular activities had fallen off. To a large degree I’ve written for a living for years. So writing books seemed it might be that extracurricular something to try. When I married I began to learn about my wife’s growing-up years in China. It was such a different experience from mine and there were so many interesting, and entertaining, stories. I thought they had to be shared. While they will not be the first of my writings to be published that really drove me to write books. ESOL and meeting people from other cultures is a bit of a passion for me.
