Born on March 28th, 1976, in Louisa, Kentucky.  I spent the early years of my life in Wayne County, West Virginia before moving with mother, during my parents' divorce in 1980, to Barberton, Ohio. After stints there and in NC, I finally graduated from Tug Valley High School, located in Naugatuck, WV, in 1994. Though I've been writing my entire life, I didn't try to write a book until the mid '90s.  After two failed attempts, I was finally able to finish one in '96, while I worked in an auto-parts factory in Barberton.    In fact, my first five hand-written manuscripts were written on the back of company timeslips.  My son, James II was born in 1999.  I was married to his mother, Jennifer Mae Marcum,  in 2000.  His brother, Ian, was born in 2001.  Since these events, I've settled here in Johnston County, NC. After years of those handwritten manuscripts taking up space in the back of my closet, I decided to break them out again in 2005.  Consequently, once the typing was done, I was published in 2006, by PublishAmerica.  The book, "Owl, The Winter's Son" was the second book written on those fated timeslips and was written in country slang.  It tells the story of a fictitious town in West Virginia.  I thought at first that the subject matter was a little over the top and contraversial for publishing.  However, I also knew that it was some of my most compelling work. Therefor, I chose to submit it first. A month after its release, "Owl, The Winter's Son" was named PublishAmerica's book of the week.  It continues to be available through their site, Amazon, Barnes & Noble's site and others. For those of you who want to help.  Request this book in your library and in your local book stores.  I am currently shopping the second book's manuscript and hope that it will be brought to print soon.   Aside from books, my poem, "A Day of No Other" was published in 2004, and I wrote a weekly article for the Kenly News for two years called "What's That Racket".
