I always wanted to be a writer but was unwilling until my middle fifties to make a fool of myself. A 12 year long Dickensian schooling experience, that horrifies all who hear about it, but delights all who survived it, has fed my imagination and stoked my innate irreverence. A. Conan Doyle, A. Christie, P. O'Brien, O'Henry, Aristotle, Bacon and The Bard: all these have been swirled into a soup in which I happily simmer. But it was James A. Michener who sat with me for an hour once long ago and told me his story that seemed to make mine possible. I am fascinated with how people organize themselves to get things done, so politics, human error, concupiscience, and the elegant way mere mortals ascend above their natures to do remarkable things moves me. A lifetime as a organization analyst and designer, a formal education in policy from Harvard,  my own minor service in public office, and an eclectic life all feed the themes of my stories. I mean to entertain playfully and inform painlessly. Some folks seem to think I manage it.

My minor accomplishments are mostly irrelevant to my writing career, so I'll just report I have published my first novel and persons other than relatives are buying it. My first novel LAGUNA won an IPPY Gold Award in 2007.
