I am a first-time writer who was inspired to write about my daughter's life. Lindsey was an absolute joy to be around and an inspiration to anyone despite having severe heart defects and Down Syndrome. I grew up in the western North Carolina foothills where a sense of humor and love of the outdoors is nearly a prequisite for survival. I have two degrees in engineering and have been involved in new product development for the last 20 years. Today I am very busy with my two sons in soccer and other family activities. I love playing music, especially blues and jazz. At age 47 I still enjoy playing indoor soccer. I hope to get more and more involved in charity work with special needs kids as I grow older.

I received the George Westinghouse Award of engineering excellence in 1987. I have always been successful but rarely in the limelight.
