Sherry has worked as an editor in the magazine industry for the last several years. She has been writing professionally since the age of 18, when she had her first play produced. Her weapon of choice is narrative literature, with an emphasis on short stories. But she dabbles. In addition to her fiction and short stories, she writes for magazines, websites, and print media. She has also written and directed a handful of plays and short films. She has studied at SUNY Buffalo, The National Shakespeare Conversatory, and New York University. A true blue New Yorker, she grabbed her laptop and her bulldog Duncan and hit Route 66 (or what was left of it) and ended up on the West Coast where she is currently exploring the Los Angeles she imagined in Raymond Chandler novels. Influences include Raymond Carver, Ian McEwan, Ayn Rand, John Updike, Flannery O'Connor, Virginia Woolf, Arthur Miller, Margaret Atwood, ee cummings, Leonard Cohen, David Sedaris, JD Salinger, Theodore Roethke, Murakami, Andre Dubus, Joan Didion, Nabakov, Charles Bukowski, Hal Hartley's films, John Cassavetes, Edward Hopper's paintings, Modigliani's portraits, artists who merge image and word such as Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer, the story of "Don Quixote", Etta James' and Thom Yorke's voices, and her family.
