I spent over 20 years as a single dad - a full time stay at home Mr. Mom. It was during those years that I began my new career as a writer. During the challenging teenage years I reduced my time spent running my small business so I could be a full time parent. I quickly discovered that raising children was more challenging, emotionally draining, and required a lot more skills than most jobs, businesses or careers. I also looked around me and saw how most parents were just as unqualified and unprepared for parenting as I was. It was that realization, along with watching my childless friends franticly spending thousands of dollars on fertility treatments, that prompted me to write my book, 50 Reasons Not To Have Kids. Not only do I believe that if we knew how challenging child raising was going to be, more of us would choose to be child free, I also believe life can be just as rewarding and fulfilling without kids. And I know you will have a lot more money, and a lot less stress.
