I devote myself to the study of the diffusion of Western European science into the Eastern European countries during the 18th and 19th centuries, in particular the activites of the state governments in that area to foster that diffusion. It seems to me the first response by countries outside the original heartland of modern science to develop a response to that epochal cultural innovation.
