Click here, to download test.mp3. I have been writing stories since the age of seven, but even from my birth I have endured many obstacles. I was born with hydrocephalus and the doctors claimed I would need special help for the rest of my life. But that was not to be. Thanks to God, I am now 28 years old with my first poetry book, My Authentic Soul. I've been inspired by everyone from Shakespeare to Petrarch to the poets of the Romantic era to those of the Harlem Renaissance as well as current figures. In college I posted copies of Edwin Arlington Robinson's "Richard Cory" and Georgia Douglas Johnson's "The Heart of a Woman" on my dorm wall. Even now, I have a copy of "I Want to Write" by Margaret Walker on my refrigerator. The main reason I love writing is because God has given me a gift that I want to share with the world. If I can help people with what I say, then that brings me much satisfaction.  

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Claflin University in May 2001 and my Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Clemson University in December 2003. My first book, My Authentic Soul, was published in July 2007.
