Leslie Dean, an RN for 35 years, and 5 year graduate of Nazarene Bible College, is an abuse and abortion survivor. She offers hope to hurting women through pastoral counseling and with her first novel, Forgiven Much.

Leslie Dean has been a registered nurse for 35 years. She has enjoyed her work as a Behavioral Health Counselor and Psychiatric Nurse Manager. But her most heartfelt joy was sensing God’s will for her life serving the past 25 years as a counselor to victims of abuse and abortion. Because of her personal pain and healing in these areas, God called her to full time ministry and she graduated from Nazarene Bible College in 2012, with a BA in Ministry - Counseling for Christian Ministries.
Through her many contacts with women, Leslie found that an epidemic number of women have experienced sexual and other types of abuse. Sadly, many of them don’t realize the long- term affects of the abuses and the role they play in their adult lives. Consequently, they often suffer relational dysfunction, especially with men and even with their children. This led her to share her own story of healing from sexual, physical, emotional and mental abuse in her first book, Forgiven Much, with the hope that her story can offer them a “light at the end of the tunnel” –that light being Jesus Christ!
Leslie has spoken to numerous youth groups, civic groups and churches about the consequences of pre-marital sex, abortion, post- abortion trauma and sexual abuse. Because of her passion to inform the public on these issues, she has been invited to speak at several retreats and fund raisers. In 2001, she gave testimony in front of the Maryland Senate Sub-Committee, sharing her personal pain of post-abortion stress and its close symptomatic relationship to post-traumatic stress. Women are not fully informed of long term affects following an abortion and Leslie’s testimony was used to persuade the Senators to pass legislation that would require abortion providers to give this information.
