Annette Smith: is a writer of children’s short stories, rhyming poetry, and picture books, for ages 0-4 and 5-8. She lives in Georgia with her husband and two sons and also has a stepdaughter and grandson. Having a small child helps her to stay current with the preschool and elementary scene. She is also a singer of Contemporary/R&B music, with ‘Silhouette’ being her stage name.   Education: Mrs. Smith’s educational background includes a high school education, computer technology, at a technical school in Ga. and is a graduate of "The Institute of Children’s Literature." She was self-taught as well by looking and learning from other writers of children who have and haven’t been successful in their writing career. She also wrote her own lyrics to her first few songs.   From Annette: My passion for writing began when I was in elementary school, but it’s amazing how it took my own children to get me to this point in my writing career. As stated earlier, I have worked around and helped a lot of children in my time, and plan to continue to help many more through my writing. I can remember when I carried my first son I use to rub my stomach as I read to him. He moved around as if to know I was reading. I knew then my son would have a passion for reading. The other has a passion for singing, go figure! I sing as well. I give both my writing and singing equal amounts of love and attention although I’ve sat aside singing for now. I enjoy cooking, traveling, and just being a good mom and wife. Those two titles (Mother and Wife) gives you more experience in the life of writing than a class, course or school ever will. Experience: A writer since the late 1990’s Annette has written several children’s stories and children's rhyming poetry. Annette has also worked around children for many years. In her opinion from watching her youngest child, she feels children learn very well with a little rhythm and rhyme.
