I look to poets Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Langston Hughes and to my mother Louise Patton for inspiration.  I love the Last Poets and Sonya Sanchez.  I am a divorced single mother to daughter Mercedes who is the love of my life.

The Binghmaton Press & Sun Newspaper (press connects) wrote an article about me written by columinst Valerie Zehl on March 30th 2008 In 2007, 2005 and 2003 I received the Editor's Choice Awards for Outstanding Achievement In Poetry. I had my first Book Signing in August 2005 at Barnes & Nobel Book Store in Upstate New York for my first book My Wave Of Words published by Rosedog Books. My second book of poetry Poetic Climb was published in 2006 by Authorhouse. My poetry is also featured in Timeless Voices, The Best Poems & Poets of 2005 and the anthology, The Colors of Life. My work is also included in Great Poems Of The Western World Excellence In Poetry Series. I participate yearly in the Albany Spoken Word Fest in Upstate New York. I am Group Organizer Of the Binghamton Poetry/Writers Meetup. On April 5, 2008 I received a Merit Award for my participation in the Broome/Tioga Branch NAACP "Dream Deferred Luncheon" where I performed. On March 25, 2007 I received the Women Of Achievement In Literature Award by the NCNW. On November 2, 2007 I received an Outstanding Individual Contributor Award by the NAACP.
