Information
Malay Roychoudhury is a Bengali poet and novelist whose works have been translated in other languages of the world. In India he is famous for having launched the Hungryalist Movement during the 1960s which changed the course of Bengali literature. This movement had impacted other literatures in Indian languages. During the movement he was visited by Octavio Paz, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Ernesto Cardenal, Howard Mc Cord, Daisy Aldan and many other writers. His works have been published in magazines edited by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Margaret Randall, Carl Weissner, Carol Berge, Howard McCord, Dick Bakken, Amiri Baraka and others.
He has translated in Bengali the poems of Blake, Tzara, Ginsberg, Akhmatova, Mandelstam, Mayakovsky, Lorca, Neruda, Brecht, Pasternak, Parra, Angelou, Cardenal, and many others
