David Vogel has been a columnist for the Hillsboro (Kansas) Free Press since the spring of 2002. His humor column "Don't Ask Why" was given an honorable mention by the Kansas Press Association, and appears bi-weekly in the Free Press. Inspired by humor columnist Dave Barry, Vogel often takes a look at the things going on in the world through a slightly twisted, often humorous perspective.
Vogel also enjoys writing short stories--sometimes for fun, other times to make a point. His short stories often hint at a flavor of Hemgway, an author whom Vogel enjoys reading.
"David Vogel Asks Why?" and "David Vogel is Getting to the Bottom of This" are two books that Vogel has published. They are both collections of "the best of" his column.
