Writer of humour, horror and loads of other stuff ...

Background Information

Originally from Tralee on the west coast of Ireland, Brendan Gerad O’Brien now lives in Newport, South Wales with his wife Jennifer and two daughters.

As a child he spent his summer holidays in Listowel, Co Kerry, where his uncle Moss Scanlon had a Harness Maker’s shop, which regrettably, is long gone now.

The shop was a magnet for all sorts of colourful characters. It was there that Brendan’s love of words was kindled by the stories of John B. Keane and Bryan MacMahon, who often wandered into the shop for a chat and bit of jovial banter.

Now retired, Brendan is actively pursuing his favourite hobby - writing short stories! Many of them have already been published individually over the years, and he’s extremely proud of the twenty that have been collated into one fascinating, easy to read collection called “Dreamin’ Dreamswhich is available to download as an ebook for just £2.99 from:

His 138,000 words, WW2 action thriller Dark September is also published in Smashwords by Tirgearr Publishing and is available to download as an ebook for just $4.99 from
