As a child, Lori spent hours around the dinner table with her family, laughing at lame jokes, puns, and punch lines. Her parents indulged her craving for comic book wit and always encouraged her to play with words. The sense of humor she developed has stayed with her over the years and often seeps into her writing. At present, Lori teaches second grade in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She launched into the writing world after winning a MOPS International story writing contest . Later, she went on to write the Meghan Rose series (Standard Publishing) and the Al the Spotted Zebra (Dragonfly Publishing). In addition, she has contributed to over a dozen books and publsihed 100 articles, short stories, poems, devotions, and puzzles for children, teens, and adults. All that aside, she still buys cereal for the prize, still reads the comic section of the newspaper first, and still doesn't take herself too seriously. Plus she can write her name forward and backward at the same time. So even if it's a rainy day, she'll still have a reason to smile.

Lori won MOPS International story writing contest in 2000. She contributed a short story to the anthology Infinite Space, Infinit God, winner of the 2007 Eppie Award in science fiction. In 2008, she won second place in Dragonfly Publishing's picture book contest. In addition, she's won a number of small contests for her short stories, poems, and flash fiction.
