My name is Melissa Davis,  I am a Speech Pathologist working in skilled nursing/nursing home settings.  I have been practicing for close to 30 years.  I chose this field so I can help others to achieve their maximal potential with speech, cognition and swallowing skills.   I’ve alway had a passion for art and photography.   One day I was showing a patient my photos of the mallard duck family that have been coming to the courtyard at the facility for 25+ years.  As she was looking at the photos she commented that her friend could use my pictures for her book’s illustrations.   I agreed that they were already telling a story….my story!    I went home that weekend and started my journey.   Raising children nowadays is so different from when I was a child and even when my children were young.  Technology has taken over and children are socializing less and less.  I wanted to write a book for young children, one that would draw their attention by the cute photos of ducklings and the interaction during the lessons being taught.  It’s important for the adults in the child’s life to read to them and talk about the simple life’s lessons.  I hope you enjoy Denny the Duck and my second book, Denny Learns Life’s Lessons.

My publisher vanished without notice (PublishAmerica and Ameristar) which took my books out of print. I am now working with Hampton Publishers and am happy to say, Denny the Duck and Denny Learns Life's Lessons will be back in print within days!
