While serving with the U. S. Army, I helped many service members write poems to their loved ones back home, and we sprinkled fancy cologne over the words before mailing the letters. The results were just amazing. I am also a professional educator who loves to see the glee in the eyes of my students.

Information
Joseph S. Spence, Sr., is the co-author of two poetry books, A Trilogy of Poetry, Prose and Thoughts for the Mind, Body and Soul, and Trilogy Moments for the Mind, Body and Soul. He invented the Epulaeryu poetry form. He is published in various forums including: Harvest of New Millennium, Joyful Magazine, Taj Mahal Review, The Phoenix, and World Haiku Association. Joseph is a Goodwill Ambassador for the state of Arkansas, USA; is a college adjunct faculty member; and a U. S. Army veteran who resides in Wisconsin.

He is the 3rd place winner of the 2004 Midwest Literary Festival Poetry Slam for his poems “Justice Defenders” and “Such a Beautiful Aroma.” Scholastic Awards: MATC President’s Award Finalist (2006), Lamp of Knowledge Award (2005), Phi Theta Kappa International Scholastic Order-Honor Society (2001), National Vocational-Technical Honor Society (1999), and Meritorious Service Medal (United States Army 1996).
