Born in Ventura, California in 1940, the son and grandson of fathers who worked in the California oil fields. Graduated Ventura High School 1957. Held the usual small town jobs, paper route, worked at a small drugstore, a couple of gas stations, two auto parts houses as well as two years working in Summerland, California at Jostens, a high school class ring manufacturer. Worked at the Oxnard airport for a few months and then went to work for Southern California Edison Company, one of California’s largest electric utilities. I attended many company schools and training seminars. After 34 years - in 1996 - I retired from an interesting career operating power stations and bulk power switching centers as well as dispatching lines and equipment. Major personal life experiences are as follows: I skated from 1952 until 1962, most times simply for the joy of skating, but leaned strongly toward dance and had an interest in freestyle. Married in 1962. We have two daughters as well as two granddaughters and one grandson. Racing dirt bikes was an on and off thing for several years until I gave it up and rode in the California deserts and mountains for recreation and to pursue an interest in exploration. I have been involved with hot rods as a hobby for most of my life and am technically and practically well versed in the field. I build my own cars from the ground up. My latest two cars being a 32 Ford highboy roadster that I drive almost every day as well as a 31 Ford roadster under construction which is slated to be a Bonneville Salt Flats race car. I was actively involved in drag racing in the early 60's and had a small degree of success there and today crew for my little brothers drag racing efforts. Several years back, I took part as a crew member for a stock car racer. A more than interesting experience that lasted for a couple of years. I’m a fair amateur machinist as well as being a good welder. I do woodworking now and then as well as build wrought iron gates. My wife and I owned a sailboat from 1972 to 1986 and we did a lot of ocean sailing as well as a considerable amount of exploring the islands offshore from the Southern California mainland. We also took part in local sailboat races and did well there. I’m a licensed pilot as well. It's been interesting.
