After thirty or so years living in New York City and hearing untold times, "You mean you're Jewish and you're from Texas"? I decided to put it on paper.  I was then sixty-five, after a career in advertising, marketing, and foreign language teaching, and I published my first book.  The year was 1998, and the book is called "In Jewish Texas," a memoir of my parents, who fled Russia and Romania to Texas in the early 1900's, of their friends and family, and of my,growing up as a gay kid in Dallas.  The publisher is TCU Press, Fort Worth.  So, despite New Yorkers' tendency to imagine that Jews exist there alone, I am Jewish and from Texas. Since 1998 I've published many articles and six more books, a mixture of novels and essays with photos.  The latest, published in April 2017, is "Thinking It Through: Reflections Past Eigthy."  Together with 40 photos, It contains the same number of short essays on family travel, food, religion, friends. Personal data: I am a serious, humorous, youthful, single Manhattan gay man, in good shape, regular theater and museum goer, an eager reader of mostly Russian, English and good American fiction, active and ready to meet interesting new people--seriously.
