Ruth Simkin is a retired physician, currently living in Victoria, B.C. As well as practicing medicine for decades, she opened Holomagic, Western Canada’s first Holographic Art Gallery in Calgary. She has volunteered on many Boards of Directors, and with organizations within her community.
In 2010, she published a memoir "The Jagged Years of Ruthie J" which met with critical acclaim. In 2015, "What Makes You Happy: Memories and Fictions", a book of short stories was published. She has written countless medical papers and contributed to textbooks, as well as doing many mixed media presentations. She has published many non-medical articles and booklets on a variety of topics.
