Susan E. Henry was born in a small town in Kentucky. Her first published poem appeared in a scholastic collection when she was six years old. From there, Susan continued to write, and eventually went on to be published in her high school’s arts magazine. In her senior year, she worked as co-editor of that magazine. Susan’s first professionally published piece appeared in How to Jump from a Ferris Wheel and Land on your Feet, Volume V. The short non-fictional piece describes Susan’s triumph over depression, and was written in the hope that others who battle the illness will seek help. On the heels of that accomplishment, Susan accepted a challenge from her publisher to submit a poetry collection. A Song for Me is the answer to that challenge. Influenced by the unique style and voice of Emily Dickinson, Susan drew inspiration from the world around her and poured out her perspective into her poetry.   This book represents the realization of a dream that has been more than thirty years in the making, as well as a celebration of life. Artists who influenced me most include Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe, Langston Hughes and William Blake. Other favorite artists include Jane Austen, John Steinbeck and Anne Rice.
