I was married to man who is eating disordered, and explored his struggle with that illness and my growing understanding of my role as an enabler in my first book: Bitter Ice: a memoir of love, food, and obsession (Wm. Morrow/Rob Weisbach, 1999).  Next, in hopes of not being a one-book author, I wrote a novel that helped me understand how to forgive and grow past the vulnerabilities that led me into my marriage.  That manuscript still sits in my computer.  In 2002, while working as a Policy Analyst for the Rural School and Community Trust, I was the chief researcher and author for Dollars & Sense: the cost-effectiveness of small schools.  In 2004 ERIC/CRESS published The Hermit Crab solution about ways to improve rural school facilities and in 2005 KnowledgeWorks Foundation published Dollars & Sense 2: lessons from good, small cost-effective schools.   In November of 2010 Greene Bark press published The Hungry i: a workbook for partners of men with eating disorders in which I explore the history, culture, symptoms and causes of eating disorders in men, and offer ways in which partners of eating disordered men can help their partners and themselves. I taught writing, memoir, research methods and and several other courses at Northeastern University and Lesley University between 2000 and 2010, but have decided to use what I learned and spend more time writing and doing research.  I'm working now on a non-fiction book about my British family during World War II, and that novel.
