A native of New Orleans, Cheré began her career in communications at the 1984 World’s Fair. She has worked or written for Variety magazine in Hollywood, TravelAge West magazine, the Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge, Gambit Weekly in New Orleans, Where New Orleans, and the Gannett newspapers of Louisiana, among many other publications. She currently works as a freelance travel and food writer, plus pens the weekly books column and newsletter, Louisiana Book News.   Her fiction include the Kensington historical romances (under the pen name of Cherie Claire) “A Cajun Dream,” “Snow Angels” anthology and “The Acadians” historical series of “Emilie,” “Rose,” “Gabrielle” and “Delphine.”   Her nonfiction books include the cookbook travelogue “Cooking in Cajun Country” (2009, Gibbs Smith Publishing) with Karl Breaux and “Magic's in the Bag: Creating Spellbinding Gris Gris Bags and Sachets” (2010, Llewellyn) with Jude Bradley. Upcoming is “Exploring Cajun Country: A Historic Guide to Acadiana,” scheduled for release in April or May, 2011, by The History Press.
