As a rebellious teen I refused the chance to go to university and went for the lure of the big city instead. The great Wen as it used to be known in the era I write about.  Now mostly called London. Secretaries in London made excellent money so after a year at college I travelled to town every day on the train, gossiped and swaggered in my high heels and high fashion. It was fun to be out of school, no tests, no homework, and the world a waiting oyster.  Unable to get rid of my itchy feet, ingrained since childhood, I set off for Canada, where I finally settled down and ended up at a University, in administration. I loved the academic environment. I took courses in computing and French and, of course, history. Then I wrote a book. People often ask you, what made you start writing? They get a rather glazed look at my reply. I love the feel of a pen in my hand and seeing words covering the page, even though my handwriting is dreadful. I hand wrote my first manuscript, then typed it in. I still return to the pen with a difficult scene. Once I started, I wrote In every free moment. And took every workshop that came my way. My name is Ann Lethbridge and I am addicted to writing.

My first Harlequin, Wicked Rake, Defiant Mistress won the Daphne DuMaurier award for Excellence in Mystery and Suspense
