I’ve always loved learning, teaching, and sharing knowledge through the written word. Professional organizations have helped me strengthen my skills and learn from the experiences of other writers. I belong to the National Space Society, the Society for the History of Technology, the National Federation of Press Women, and the Historical Society of New Mexico. My husband and daughters give me enthusiastic support when I am working on a project, comforting solace when I get discouraged, and companionship in celebration when I complete a milestone.

After several years of active participation in SouthWest Writers, I received the Parris Award, the organization’s highest honor, in recognition of having produced a body of work, given help and encouragement to other writers, and provided service to the organization.

Since writing Underground Buildings: More than Meets the Eye, I earned certification as a Green Building Technical Professional.

My 2011 book, Out of this World: New Mexico's Contributions to Space Travel, received six awards, and my 2014 book, Space Pioneers: In Their Own Words, received four awards at the state, regional, and national levels. My seventh nonfiction book, The Complete Space Buff's Bucket List: 100 Space Things to Do Before You Die, was published in 2015 and named Best Travel Book in the 2016 New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards. In 2016 I was named Communicator of Achievement by the National Federation of Press Women.

I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
