Christner's first book was published in 1994. She now has eight historical novels. Her new three book series is called Plain City Bridesamaids. She writes this series from her experiences being raised Mennonite. Dianne and Jim Christner have two married children and five grandchildren and many friends and relatives in various sects of the Mennonite Church.
