I've had a history of good jobs and bad jobs. A brief stint as a Great Lakes deckhand remains my most pleasant memory.I prefer mysteries, noir or hardboiled. It jibes with my cynical view of the world. Past reading influences were Hemingway, Camus, and Dostoevsly.  Presenytones are Martin Cruz Smith, David L. Lindsey, and Thomas Harris.

"The Frotteur in the Dark," a short story printed in the collection "'Out of Breath'" and Other Stories" (Red Giant Press, 2014), was named one of 6 Best Of in Chicago's Ten Thousand Tons of Black Ink for the year 2009. The crime novel "Special Collections" won the New Rivers Press/Minnesota State Press - Mankato 2014 eBook competition. "When You Run with Wolves" (rpt. 2018) selected for Best International Crime Books 2018 by Murder, Mayhem, & More. "God's Own Avenger" submitted for a Derringer award, 2019. "Inside Man" was selected for inclusion in Houghton Mifflin's annual Best American Mystery Stories 2019.
