After retirement I started editing and publishing books for others. I also worked with a charitable organization to produce a cookbook. While helping my father cope with eleven years in the nursing home environment after my mother died, I began writing short stories about some of his unusual experiences in ‘ the system’. When he died I collected these stories and other stories he had written himself, into a book. His life adventures were too good not to pass on and the nursing home years offered an insight into the lives of those who spend their latter years in assisted living a various kinds.
Also contained within the pages of the book is a story written by my grandfather about his four years as a soldier in The Great War, where he survived the battles of the Somme and Vimy Ridge.
