After years wandering the Caribbean and Bahamas aboard my crawfish boat (Yankees call 'em lobsters) loaded with crawfish traps, I tired of the gun battles with pirates (we just called 'em thieves) and returned to Florida. My long time friend and partner soon followed me in his crawfish boat. We settled in Everglades City and began trapping stone crabs. We all thought we'd found the mythical Shan-gri-la, and it could have been, except for one small fact that we weren't aware of until after we had bought homes, new boats, airplanes, and had built thousands of traps...Everglades City was the southern hub of drug smuggling. A few years later my ex-partner and best friend went to prison. My wife, Dottie (died 2002) and I boarded our plane and went to Jamaica, instead. (damn near every male in Chokoloskee and Everglades City over 18 went to prison) He did sixteen years in federal prison, but is out now and back to trapping crawfish and stone crabs. In Jamaica I started writing again, and eventually decided to write the true story of our years battling pirates, some of which never made it home. The book also covers those drug smuggling years that ended our time in Shan-gri-la. I titled the book BLUE WATER ADVENTURE, but so many people thought it was a book about 'catching fishies' , that I renamed it DARK CARIBBEAN, and it took off. I've always loved writing, so I started another book about a young Irish boy leaving Ireland in the late 18th century and settling in America. I'm Irish and had that book floating around in my head for many years, so I'm happy that it received so much praise. Book revues compared it to a combination of  Lonesome Dove & Little House on the Prairie. After receiving 100+ emails asking for a sequel, I began writing it. I recently finished THE McKANNAHS ~together again~ and it's outselling all of my books. I completed my 14th book, a novel titled, CALUSA ~warriors from a distant past~, by January 2015. It's about the ancient Indians yhat commanded Southwest Florida for 2,000 years, until the Spaniards arrived with their cruel gene and worse yet, germs that cut down the indigenous Indians like ready-to-reap wheat. One of their main villages was this small island where I live. Chokoloskee is the largest of the 10,000 Islands. That book is now finished and available here at the trading post, or directly from me. I hope to complete my most enjoyable book so far by Jan. 2016. 2084 ~A World in Peril~ has no connection to George Orwell's book...1984 - During the ensuing 100 year gap, Planet Earth could no longer feed the population, and yet, many people were encouraged to continue having as many children as possible.
