I have always loved reading, writing, speech and drama, which were my forte at school.
A product on my era, ater a mediocre career, marriage and motherhood kept me occupied for 10 years, then I developed a successful weight loss concept based on my own experience. This struck a note with many other women and I found I had a runaway success on my hands, which kept me occupied during my 40’s. I love cooking and designed interesting menus for the families. Being a Piscean, I was in my element helping other people
When I finally had time to myself, I tentatively started writing stories and attended a writing course at Auckland University, where the course leader, who was an editor at Penguin books, told me I was a storyteller and I should try my hand at earning a living through writing. So I set to and have been encouraged by enthusiastic readers who tell me they kept turning the pages because they wanted to know what came next and that my books make them laugh, cry, get angry with the villains and cheer on the heroines/heroes.
I glean ideas from my travels through Europe and love meeting other people, especially those from other cultures.
I teach English to a Muslim couple and am amazed by their enthusiasm and unbounded energy to embrace NZ, its people and culture. I count them as dear friends.
So here I am, endeavouring to follow in the footsteps of my literary heroes, Roger J Ellory, Frederick Forsyth, Cyrus Moore, Kate Mosse, Katherine Neville, Raymond Khoury to name but a few. Big shoes to fill.
