Elizabeth Key has loved European history all of her life, especially Scottish and British history. She has also pursued independent studies of many other cultures and the combination brings a great deal of insight and depth to her writing. Perhaps it is because she is Scottish, Irish, and Norwegian--all three lines being passionately in love with the histories of their respective countries! Elizabeth's books reflect her love of Europe from the 1700s through the 1900s with all of its mix of romance, politics, aristocratic intrigue, fascination with secret societies, religious studies, exploration, and struggle on an everyday basis to survive. She has a background in literature, historical studies, politics, nursing, and education all of which add depth and realism when she writes her books. She loves dogs, cats, and all other animals. She contributes as much as possible to save them from cruelty and starvation. One of the reasons she writes is to be able to contribute more to help defenseless animals escape from sadism and abuse. She welcomes emails from readers who have comments and suggestions about improving her books and ideas about what they would want to see happen to the characters in her books!
