After my Air National Guary A-10 unit came back from the Iraqi Freedom war my IT career picked up where it left off as if nothing had happened. I was awarded plaques and called a hero but there was something hollow left inside me. I made a vow to honor the men and women that served in that misguided war. I did not do so and in 2007 after not honoring that pledge I was stricken with Lymphoma cancer caused by radiation exposure during the war. Surviving cancer twice was much more horrific than fighting a war for me. For example, I learned what it was to crawl around on the emergency room floor with perforated bowels, have my bone marrow wiped out, and watch other cancer patients die and so much more. After the stem cell transplant I was in remission at the height of the GREAT RESSION! Sending out resumes and applying for jobs that my limited body could do provied nothing by fruitless time wasted. At that time I had a technical blog and 28 years of experience contracting for various government agencies, working for many U.S. corporations and serving in three branches of the U.S. military. I decided I would turn that into a cyber security book to help the average computer user and after nine years of work have now done so. I now know I have now honered the memory of everyone who needed this book.
