Drawing on 40+ years as a psychotherapist, I write empowering, compassionate non-fiction to inspire growth and strengthen relationships with self and others.

My background is in the field of therapy: 40+ years as a clinical psychotherapist specialising in complex childhood trauma recovery for adults who often present with eating disorders, relationship difficulties, very low self-worth, difficulty forming and maintaining intimate relationships, destructive self-harming behaviours such as self-hatred, self-talk attacks. My major influencers in my clinical work include Freud, Jung, Winnicott, Klein, Laing, Sullivan, Ainsworth, and Horney to develop an integrative, psychodynamic therapeutic approach to the slow working through of traumatic childhood experiences.
The other deeply significant influence has been 15 years+ of studying Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism doing initiations, attending retreats and daily meditation practices. Drawing on this and my clinical work
I co-created a Tibetan Buddhist Psychotherapy program and taught in it for 5 years bringing together the best of western psychotherapy and the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism.
I have worked as a Child and Family therapist over 30 years, working a lot with separated and divorcing couples to help establish child-centred arrangements post-divorce, I have worked with blended families and the unique challenges they face
In my early years of clinical work I worked in a child psychiatric unit as a Child and Family therapist and as a result moved away from a medicalised approach to healing of the mind to a more holistic approach through psychotherapy. Now, as I come towards winding up my private practice over the next five or so years, I am keen to channel the accumulated practice wisdom into useful, relevant non-fiction writing.
