Barbara Watkins was born in Sikeston, Missouri to Jackie Dean and Betty Lucille White. When she was three years old her parents divorced due to her father's alcoholism. Her mother raised Barbara and her brother and sister by herself. Her mother remarried a couple of years later only for Barbara and her siblings to soon find themselves fatherless again, due to their stepfather's untimely death. Mrs. Watkins was raised in Sikeston and went to Sikeston High School. She started writing poems at an early age and at the age of seventeen she married Jim Watkins. They soon started a family. They have two sons' Steven and Jerry Watkins and their daughter Amanda. Barbara worked in medical records at Ferguson Medical and then later was assistant manager of a quick lube for ten years. It wasn't until her late forties that she began to take her writing seriously. At an early age she experienced strange phenomenon. She kept those memories for years, and decided to put them in a book. After six months, "Behind the Red Door" was born. After countless rejections a publisher out of Frederick, MD. picked it up. It was released in August of 2005. Publishamerica has accepted her second manuscript as well, "Thorns of an Innocent Soul." due out May 1, 2006. She writes in the genre of Mystery/Thriller's. Barbara is getting rave reviews from some of the top reviewers. Her most recent project is a full length novel entitled, "Voices From Within" UK Independent Press wrote, " Just the right mix of horror, suspense and supernatural! Can't wait to read more BRAVO!"

Barbara Watkins is a published author of two novella's with articles appearing in newspapers, and in radio interviews. She is currently working on her third novel. She has written several short stories as well.
