BACKGROUND: I was in the Irish Army for several years involved in covert undercover attacks on various Islands off the west coast of Ireland that tried to declare themselves as independent socialist autonomies in the seventies. It's not widely know but the Aran Islands used to be a hotbed of political radicalism and even to this day, though they won't admit it, most of the locals are actually Maoist gorillas.
