I am a mother of five children and now eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.I am married to my best friend in the world. He has always been there to encourage me to write my poetry, short stories and songs. I love to write and have since I was a child. As a child I thought I would one day grow up to be a well known poet or song writer, who knows, it is never too late.

Information
I was first introduced to writing poetry by a very special friend, John Sutherland. I was maybe eight years old and I would get him to read me some of his poetry and I thought to myself one day I want to write poetry and soon after I started to write. At first I hid my poetry afraid that someone would laugh at what I wrote. As the years went by my mom always encouraged me to keep at it and I did. Thank you John for leading me to something I love.
I have always found I could display my emotions through my words, my love and my ambition to be the best I can be. My words are something I would like to leave my family with, when I am long gone and hopefully it will add to their life, making them realize that life can be as wonderful as you make it, all you have to do is BELIEVE in yourself. I believe in my heart and soul that when people read what I have written, they too will feel the message I am giving, and hopefully make a difference in their lives. I am encouraged by others, I love to listen and maybe I have often helped others through their problems. I love people and feel that no one should have to live their lives with overlaoded bagage, get rid of it and start enjoying life. I am not one for big words for I have always wanted to know that when someone reads my poetry they don't have to question them.

Accomplishments

I had published a book of poetry in 2005. It is called "From My Heart To Yours". It is family oriented. I hope to reach out to the hearts of others by what I have written. Most of the poems in this book was written because of different situations in our lives over the past. I have received an Editors award for several of my poems that were published in other books. I have written several songs and had one chosen as the title song for a Christmas CD, recorded by Country Generations, called "The Thoughts Of Christmas". My only regret is that I never took the opportunity to learn to play music while I had the chance.
I love to sing for fun not as an entertainer, therefore it would be great if I could play. Who knows, they say you're never too old.

I did manage to teach myself how to play guitar and have spent many hours playing and singing many of my favorite country songs. Now I have to try to put a tune and chords to the country songs I have written.
Additional Information
I have a second book of poetry written but not published as of yet, but I hope to in the near future.
I have also written several short stories and keep busy writing Gospel, Lullaby & country songs and believe me, they come straight from the heart. I just love country music. I guess that's why it comes easy for me to write it. I have made seven trips to Nashville and I have to say, I've loved each trip, I will make a lot more visits there.
Since I have been on the Authors Den, I have had the opportunity of getting to know my dear cousin, Felix Perry, whom I have never really met or had the chance to get to know. I came to know so much about Felix through his words which I have come to enjoy so much, thank you for sharing with us Felix. I thank the Den for bringing him into my life. We talk almost every day and have found that we have so much in common that we have to be related.
My sister told me about the Den and she too is a member, Selina Dobbin-Gillis and is indeed a wonderful writer. Again I have to say it was Felix who made the Den be known to her who passed the information onto me. So I can faithfully say that the Den has indeed made me feel like part of a large family. Thank you so much.
