I have been an avid reader and writer of the science fiction and fantasy genre. I am active at science fiction conventions in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. Science fiction, fantasy, horror, romance, mystery and spy fiction in both film and books have been giving me great ideas for many years. Chief of them have been The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, the Ian Fleming and Tom Clancy series of books, and so on. My motivations are to keep pushing the outside of the envelope and to challenge the reader with new and interesting characters, situations, and events. Lately I have been interested in presenting the vampire as hero in a realistic historical background as the main focus of my books. My characters were created whole cloth based on everything I learned about the mythology. Even though they are presented as science fiction and fantasy I want to educate and inform as well as entertain, and I want to portray my characters as people confronted by real moral and ethical dilemmas in the context of their difference from humans. My current favorite television series are Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica, with Eureka trailing a bit. I also enjoy anime series such as Paranoia Agent, Full Metal Alchemist, and InuYasha, among others. I also follow such shows as CSI (across the range of the CSI franchise), Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, and Law and Order. But since some of them are winding down I don't know what will replace them.
