Changming Yuan grew up in a remote village in mid-south China. To see a working motor pump, the first thing he saw that had to do with 20th century, he got himself 99% drowned when he was in grade 4. Yuan had his first exposure to poetry at age 14, and did not begin to learn the English alphabet until he was 19 when he became an ESL student at Shanghai Jiaotong University. Before moving to Canada as an international student, he published monographs and journal articles on translation and the English language. With a PhD in English from the University of Saskatchewan, he lives a semi-retired life in Vancouver; his poetry credits inlucde 11-time Pushcart and 3-time Best of Net nominations, 10 collections of poetry as well as appearances in the Best of the Best Canadian Poetry (2008-2017) & BestNewPoemsOnline, among more than 1800 other literary avenues, across 46 countries. Yuan's greatest achievements are his two sons, in addition to two poetic lines: 1)There is light in every dream we have in darkness; and 2)Mask is the only garment that will never go out of fashion. He hopes that the 'billinguacultural poems' and the link form he has invented and termed as "Siamese Stanzas" will eventually become his most important poetic inventions. Since 2009, he has won 9 poetry awards.
