I was born and raised in Ventura, California, the home of Earl Stanley Gardner. I loved Perry Mason and some critics have said my legal mysteries reflect that influence. Lee Child is my favorite author. I also read Scottalini, Grisham, Patterson, Sheldon and Koontz among others. Of course, everybody loves Harry Potter.
After writing ten mysteries, I strayed into the fantasy/sci fi genre. It's much different and more challenging for me, but I'm having lots of fun and more success than I expected. Act Normal was featured in a Library Journal article called Hot Crime Trends by Jo Ann Vicarel along with the hugely popular, Charlane Harris. Just to be mentioned in the same sentence with such a fine author is exhilerating to say the least. Just recently I actually sat next to Charlane Harris at a book signing in Mobile Alabama and she was kind enough to ask for a copy of my latest work, Tarizon.
I'm up to twenty-five books now with the release of Bitter Choices, the 13th Stan Turner Mystery. I still practice law with my son, Jim, in Texas. We are consumer lawyers and we regularly fight big banks, mortgage companies and credit card issuers.
Accomplishments: I've participated in over 600 events in 225+ cities and all 50 states across the nation promoting by novels.

In this latest book, it's 1999 in Dallas, Texas and the world is nervously awaiting the predicted Y2K calamity when millions of computers are expected to crash simultaneously causing power grids to fail, factories to shut down, and planes to fall from the sky.
