As an Immunotoxicologist at Cornell University, I focus on the health effects of exposure to environmental chemicals and drugs in early life. I particularly focus on how prenatal environmental exposure impacts the ability to get certain diseases later in life. The work impacts both our knowledge of the risk factors for human disease as well as influences how drug and chemical safety testing will be approached in the future. However, my decades' long interest in antiques and particularly in the Scottish goldsmiths and their wares has led to recent books and scholarly articles in the totally different arena of fine arts and history. Watch as my books and publications mount in these two distinct arenas of life - science and art. The books and articles look forward toward a better protection of children's health. In addition, they look backward in time to bring centuries of Scottish goldsmiths to life and to enhance the admiration and understanding of their creations.
