Ludwig began a career in radio in 1962, eventually working as a producer, news and sports writer, marketing manager, and an on-air country music disc jockey. While serving in the military he was assigned to re-activate an army cable radio station..

     He went on to write, produce, and anchor syndicated radio sports segments as part of a group of affiliated radio station's news programs with on-the- air coverage from Northeast Pennsylvania to the New Jersey and Delaware seashores. Later while working in advertising he served as a columnist for the weekly nationally circulated auto-racing tabloid Illustrated Speedway News based in New York and founded a small regional magazine in Central Pennsylvania featuring commentary and lifestyle articles.
 
      He has written novels titled Mexico Road, and The Angels & Demons of Hamlin He wrote a true crime book and a  biography of an auto racing legend. He wrote a series of magazine articles about a famous 19th century Pennsylvania murder known as The Blue Eyed Six. All defendents had Blue Eyes. Later the magazine articles were combined and published in booklet form. Ludwig appears in the Kreider Brothers produced documentary film about the crime.

    He worked as an on-air disk jockey, produced entertainment and sporting events while working with nationally NFL great Lenny Moore, famed song writer Bix Reichner, entertainers Dee Dee Sharp, Dick Clark, Gene Pitney, Moe Bandy, Margo Smith, plus Grand Ole' Opry stars Skeeter Davis and Bill Anderson along, with many local and regional entertainers
   He has held sales management and media relations executive positions, worked as an emcee in a variety of occasions and venues, and has performed as a costumed Pennsylvania Dutch comedy character.

     He is a present or former member of The American Legion, The National Writer's Union (AFL-CIO), The Independent Book Publishers Association, The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, The Lebanon County (PA) Historical Society, The  Hershey (PA) Italian Lodge, The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, and The United Racing Club.
