John grew up in small midwestern communities and entered college in the large city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. After receiving his Bachelor of Sacred Literature degree he entered the ministry, serving a church in southern Minnesota. From there he moved his family to Madison, Wisconsin for a few years before heading back to Minneapolis for two years where he worked with a campus ministry. Then it was out east to central Pennsylvania where God, more or less, took him out of the ministry because of his "mid life crisis" when he got into pornography and "worldly living." After a stent in the hardware business, he moved his family to Indianapolis where he went into the construction business with his father, returning to the life he grew up with as a kid. His book(s) are about his family's  struggles and eventual realization of God's grace and mercy. John's father was an alcoholic. His brother died in a drug induced accident. His sisters struggled with alcohol. His mother was a complainer. And John was addicted to porn. In short, they were the normal dysfunctional American family.    What is so great is that God loves dysfunctional people! Just read the Bible stories about Cain and Able, Lot and his daughters, Moses, Sampson, David, etc. Isn't it fantastic that God's love, as displayed by His Son, Jesus, accepts His creation unconditionally and fully!   So, from growing up in a carpenter's family to becoming a preacher and then returning to the carpenter's life after fourteen years in the ministry, he shares some lessons learned, some pitfalls to avoid, and some important decisions to consider, especially for his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
