Inspired many years ago to write poetry after a brief career in songwriting in Nashville, Barry became interested in his geneology studying the styles in writing of his ancestors Sidney Clopton Lanier and Thomas Lanier(Tennessee Williams). Thomas Lanier engaged in writing over 350 poems before he became discouraged moving to Louisiana and changing his name and ultimately his writing style.
