I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, eating crabs, oysters, scallops - all things that made me happy as a clam. Only as an adult, did I get a full-blown allergic reaction to shellfish and now can't eat any of it. What a tradgedy. I guess I ate my allotment too early in life.
