I came to the fantasy romance genre by way of an offhand comment from a friend. He had just read one of my mystery/suspense books (alas, unpublished, but available as an ebook) and really liked it. He said "You should write something with vampires in it. Anything with vampires sells." So I did. And had a lot of fun doing it.
