I began studying art at the High School of Art and Design in New York City under Irwin Greenberg, or Greeny as his students called him. Greeny taught his students in a manner that was considered out of vogue at the time. We learned about the Great Masters and painted from the model everyday in oils and watercolor. He taught his students about painters like Rembrandt, Rubens, Velazquez and Sargent. It was a very unique class to have in a high school and I have always been grateful for it.
