Lamaro Laker grew up in Africa in a warm and playful single-parent family. She studied languages, literature and Psychology at Kenyatta University in Kenya, the Victoria University of Manchester in the U.K. and the University of Konstanz in Germany.

Before becoming critically ill, she had years of experience as a teacher of modern languages in secondary schools, a school counsellor, a lecturer in Psychology, a therapist and a researcher. A career break due to illness and recovery allowed her to rediscover her first passion - writing.
