Courtney M. Privett was born in Detroit in 1982 and raised in northeastern Michigan. She relocated to Missouri to obtain a degree in Ceramic Engineering, and now resides in Kansas with her husband, two children, and two disobedient cats. She is a former analytical chemist and a current percussionist for several community groups.
