We only had one black&white TV (w/one channel) when I was growing up in the Czech Republic so I listened to a lot of stories on the radio. My family was pretty animated so I witnessed many 'live' shows as well. But mostly, I read, and still do. You don't have to be a writer to read but you do need to read to be a writer.
A few of my many influences are: Hans Christian Andersen, Judy Blume, Oscar Wilde, Karel Capek and Dr. Seuss.
